Our speaker for 2017 will be Tanya Polstra. She is currently living in Southern California. Tanya has a passion for advocacy field in Deaf ministry by showing them how to establish their daily steps in it.

Tanya recently received her master’s in Disability Studies at California Baptist University where she studied advocacy in church and policy. Tanya participated in discipleship program at California Baptist University four times where she went through six months training before traveling overseas working with Deaf people for three weeks. She is a member of Grove Deaf church where she serves as Deaf and Blind interpreter.
Leading people in Truth is the joy and calling of Tanya’s life. Tanya has a passion for advocacy field in Deaf ministry by showing them how to establish their daily steps in it. Whatever the circumstance, she boldly speaks with sensitivity and breaking it open with insight and sharing Deaf people’s real stories from the deep wounds of trauma, barriers and experiences.
Tanya loves to serve her community and participated different events as a volunteer. She has been a California School for the Deaf, Riverside Varsity/Junior Varsity Assist Cheer coach for nine years and a California Association of the Deaf Youth Co-Coordinator. She gave several interpreting workshops with her co-presenter called “Situational Ethics from a Deaf and Interpreter Perspective”. She completed the course called Perspectives on the World Christian Movement. She is on Southern California Deaf Women Retreat committee as a historian for two years. She also had received several leadership awards.
She is currently living in Southern California with her husband and they have a baby boy born who was born in August 2016. They have two dogs and two cats. Tanya enjoys reading books about leadership and missions. She also loves to run marathons.
